Route of Doha Metro

Doha Metro is divided into three main lines which are red, green, and gold. While the blue line is under construction with 60 new stations which will be added to the current ones expanding the coverage of Doha Metro all around Qatar.

Red Line

The red line, the first line to be introduced in 2019, with 18 stations covered from Al Wakra in the south to Lusail in the north. This red line covers almost 40 kms of Qatar while connecting Hamad International Airport to City Centre. The two interchanges that Doha Metro have, one called “Al Bidda” connects the red and green line while the other one “Msheireb” interchange connects all three lines at a single interchanging point.

Green line, the last one to be launched in 2019, with 11 stations. It expands from Al Riffa to Al Mansoura, thus welcoming the customers from the different stations to travel through Doha Metro.

Gold Line

Doha Metro Opening Timings

The Doha Metro train opens seven days a week, arrives every six minutes, and reaches the stations in three to four minutes but the reaching time may vary at multiple spots due to unknown reasons expected. The timings are as follow:

  • Saturday to Wednesday- 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM
  • Thursday                       – 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Friday                            – 2:00 PM to 12:00 PM

Doha Metro Ticket Pricing

Doha Metro ticketing splits into two classes; standard and gold club. If you travel in standard class, the cost of ticket will be QAR2 to QAR6 no matter how many rides you will take on. If you are using the gold club class, the price of a ticket will range from QAR10 to QAR30 depending on the rides you plan to take a day. In addition, there is a limited edition one time pass which you can use for a single day or a single journey only. This is the recommended pass for international tourists or visitors.

Children above the age of nine can travel alone while the children below the age of five will not need a card. However, the children above five will need a card but must have to travel with an accompanying person aged above 16.

Where to buy Doha Metro Cards?

Well, the standard doha metro card can be purchased from all vending machines available on all the Doha Metro stations while some retailers also have the standard doha metro cards. On the contrary, for gold club cards, you need to visit the gold club offices located at all doha metro stations.

However, you can recharge your standard cards from the official doha metro website, vending machine and some mobile apps. But for recharging the gold club card, you need to visit the gold club office again at the doha metro station.

Carriages on Doha Metro

On the Doha Metro train, there are three types of carriages; standard, family and gold one. The standard carriage can be used by anyone while for the gold carriage, you need the gold club card. Meanwhile, the family carriage is for the families only. No lonely male is allowed on the family carriage.

How to get to the Doha Metro Station?

To get to the Doha Metro station swiftly and smoothly, two different feeder bus services are available. The first one is metrolink which drops the riders at two to six kilometers away from the station with a time swap of six to twenty minutes each. The bus service areas include the Pearl Qatar, Doha Festival City and Lusail Marina. However, you don’t need to pay for this bus service. Just swap your Doha Metro card in and out.

The other bus service available for your smooth travel to Doha Metro is metro express. This bus service is exclusively for the registered users.
